This follows Nick and his mate Chris who work for the military but also loot antiquities on the side. After a beautiful night with Jenny he steals her map to the treasure but it leads him to an ancient Egyptian prison. While inside they let loose the mummy Ahmanet. But she has bigger plans and so will she succeed?

I really liked Nick he was a complicated character he was a total assehole but also totally loveable. Dr Jekyll played by Russell Crowe was so good he had that creepy and serious look down. I loved the mysteriousness around his character it set up a mystery in my head of how he got into the organisation. There was Jenny I really didn’t like her character I honestly thought she was too much of a damsel in distress. I personally think she should have been more of a badass archaeologist. Apart from that I did like her relationship with Nick it was a sweet and love at first sight love. Chris who is Nick’s best friend and great comedic addition to the film with such a creepy look to him. Lastly the amazing, Ahmanet who was such a scary, seductive and sly character. She had the confidence and the way she moved and looked was very much Egyptian and of the time period she was representing.

I loved the plot for this I thought it was thrilling, mysterious, romantic and just a roller-coaster of madness. I had little thing that annoyed me which was that Ahmanet did something to Nick which didn’t really make sense those who have seen it will understand. It just seemed a bit weird. Apart from that it was exciting plot.

Although most of the costumes are normal clothing. However, I did want to talk about the Egyptian costumes which were stunning. I loved the Egyptian royal costumes were very authentic and beautiful. I loved the mummy outfit it was scary and mysterious at the same time with the mixture of the use of bandages and tattoos in hieratics.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed The Mummy it was thrilling and exciting with the promise of a whole world of scary monsters terrorizing the world in what is called the Dark Universe. It was a great all round film and I can’t wait for the next instalment in the dark universe.
