September Film Releases

There are some really exciting films coming out this month. The most exciting is IT Chapter 2 which I have high hopes for. I adore Stephen King’s work and his adaptations are always exciting to watch.

IT Chapter 2 -18 – 2hrs 49mins – Drama, Fantasy, Horror – 7/10 – D= Andy Muschietti – S= Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader – The next installment in the IT story with Pennywise.

Opinion: I am so excited for this film it is going to be so good.

 

Hustlers – 15 – 1hr 50mins – Comedy, Drama, Crime – 6.6/10 – D= Lorene Scafaria – S= Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles – This is the story based on New York Magazine article about former stripe club employees who take revenge into their own hands.

Opinion: This looks like a fascinating story and great performances.

 

Night Hunter – 15 – 1hr 38mins – Action, Thriller – 5.8/10 – D= David Raymond – S= Henry Cavill, Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario – This follows a man with multiple personalities who is somehow connected to the disappearances of many women.

Opinion: This looks like a fascinating film and I love Stanley Tucci.

 

Downton Abbey – PG – 2hrs 2mins – Drama – 7.9/10 – D= Michael Engler – S= Michelle Dockery, Tuppence Middleton, Maggie Smith – Continuing the story of the TV show.

Opinion: I don’t have high hopes for this film but feel obliged to see it. 

 

Ad Astra – 12A – 2hrs 3mins – Adventure, Drama, Mystery – 7.2/10 – D= James Gray – S= Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga – This follows an astronauts son following in his footsteps.

Opinion: This looks slightly interesting. 

 

The Kitchen – 15 – 1hr 42mins – Action, Drama, Crime – 5.2/10 – D= Andrea Berloff – S= Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elizabeth Moss – This story follows the story of the wives of New York gangsters in Hell’s Kitchen in the 70s.

Opinion: I am really excited to watch this film.

 

The Farewell – PG – 1hr 40mins – Comedy, Drama – 8.1/10 – D= Lulu Wang – S= Shuzhen Zhao, Awkwafina, X Mayo – This follows a granddaughter who goes to visit her grandma who is dying but she doesn’t know she is dying.

Opinion: I can’t wait to see this film.

 

Hotel Mumbai – 15 – 2hrs 3mins – Drama, History, Thriller – 7.6/10 – D= Anthony Maras – S= Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi – This looks at the true story of the terror attack on the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.

Opinion: This looks like a fascinating film.

 

Poms – 12A – 1hr 30mins – Comedy, Drama, Sport – 5.7/10 – D= Zara Hayes – S= Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver, Celia Weston – This is about a group of older women who decide to start a cheer leading club.

Opinion: I love anything with Diane Keaton in it. 

 

The Goldfinch – 15 – 2hrs 29mins – Drama – 6.3/10 – D= John Crowley – S= Oakes Fegley, Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman – This follows the story of a boy after his mother is killed in a bombing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Opinion: I am interested to see what they do with Donna Tartt’s novel.
