January 2022 Cinema Releases

This month’s cinema releases are a real mix of fantastic films from many genres. This post tells you all the films that are coming to the UK in cinemas that I am interested in and why. If you only take one recommendation from this post then please go and see Boiling Point following a restaurant on the busiest night of the year and their chef’s most stressful night of his life. Stephen Graham gives a gripping, nuanced performance on the pressures of work life balance and a beautifully shot film. I talk about it in my film releases post for this month so there is no escaping my enthusiasm for this film. The other film I am excited to see is Guillermo del Toro’s new film Nightmare Alley which features the most amazing cast of Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett and Willem Defoe so this is a must watch for me. As it takes a deep dive into the dark world of the circus and fantasy. When Pedro Almovador produces a new film I watch! He is a filmmaker that continues to surprise me and worm his way under my skin with every new project he does. He is one of my favourite directors. Lastly we see the return of the horror franchise called Scream which I have enthusiastically followed since the first film in 1996 (side note I was one but you know I just had thick skin kidding I started watching it as a teenager and have been hooked ever since). Like me you may have been expecting this film to be called Scream 5 however, they have gone for the reboot approach and called it Scream with original cast members returning for example Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell.
