Wolfson History Prize 50th Anniversary

The Wolfson History Prize was founded in 1972 and usually awards £40,000 to the first prize winner. However, this year in celebration of its 50th anniversary it will award £50,000 to the winner. The Wolfson History Prize selects six books as it short list that embody their values of: being for everyone to read, detailed research, and of eloquent written. Last year’s winner Sudhir Hazaresingth had written an excellent biography of Toussaint Louverture called Black Spartacus.

Hugh Bonneville’s memoir to be published by Little, Brown

Hugh Bonneville has captured our hearts as the kind father in both the Paddington films as Henry Brown the worrier of all worries and as Robert Crawley in Downton Abbey which will return to the silver screen for its second appearance, this year. Continuing this persona he has sat down by the fire (I can only image) to tell us the delightful tales of his life in Hiding Under the Piano: from Highclere to Hollywood which is to be published by Little, Brown – set to grace our bookshops in October, perfecting timing for the Christmas present season.

Stephen King’s New Novel lands at Hodder

The man who has been scaring us for the better part of 48 years as Carrie his first novel was published in 1974. This year he is bringing out a new scary tale that involves a 17 year old boy who has acquired keys to different worlds and is called Fairy Tale. It will be published Hodder and is due in September.

A New Exorcism Project won by Netflix

The word exorcism immediately brings an expectation of a cross or in Netflix’s case, a lot of money as they have just won the bid on the new Exorcism project – that will be a financial cross to bear! The director is Lee Daniels who you will know from The United States vs. Billie Holiday and joining him in the cast is Andra Day, Octavia Spencer and the wonderful Glenn Close. It plans to start production this year. While we wait the last exorcism project called The Exorcist is still available on Amazon Prime.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians Is Officially A TV Show

When you hear that Disney+ is interested in Percy Jackson you think ‘yes, finally!’ Now its official because it has been given a series order. They have started casting and are hoping to begin production this year. They have also have assigned a director, James Tobin, who directed The Mysterious Benedict Society – also on Disney+. It was officially announced yesterday by the man himself Rick Riordan. I will leave a link below for your fan brain to explode!
